Our Community

Neighbors looking out for neighbors.

When a business is part of a community, it ought to give back to it. These are the programs we run to do exactly that.

TENDER HOME CARE

Tender Home Care exists because of the families who trust us. The weekly paychecks and Medicaid paperwork are the obvious part of what we do, but we believe there’s more to being a good neighbor than that.

So we built a few programs that go beyond enrollment. Some are for our caregivers. Some are for anyone in the neighborhood, Tender client or not. All of them come out of our pocket, and all of them are things we genuinely care about doing.

PROGRAM 01

Community Events

We help fund the gatherings that bring people together.

Bingo nights with pizza. Live music at a Sunday service. Holiday lunches for caregivers. Game days for veterans. Whatever your community needs to feel a little more connected, we want to be part of making it happen.

We sponsor events with up to $5,000 each. The only real requirement is that the event genuinely brings people together. We’re not looking to plaster a logo on a banner. We just want to help good things happen in our neighborhoods.

PROGRAM 02

Friendly Neighbors

A weekly call from someone who actually wants to hear about your week.

Loneliness is one of those quiet things that’s easy to ignore until you can’t. We pair volunteers with elderly Hoosiers for weekly phone calls or in-person visits, just a real conversation about the week, the weather, the grandkids, whatever’s on your mind.

This one’s open to anyone in Indiana, whether you’re enrolled with us or not. If you know someone who’d love a weekly call, or if you’d like to be the person making the calls, we’d love to hear from you.

Calls happen every week, rain or shine.

What people say about it

Margaret, an older woman in a cowboy hat and sunglasses, on the phone

Margaret, 78 · Indianapolis

Every Wednesday around two, my phone rings. It's Carla. She wants to know how the garden's coming along and if my grandson called me back yet. She remembers. That's the part that gets me, she actually remembers.

Carla, 34 · Volunteer · Indianapolis

I started doing this because I missed my own grandma. I figured I'd be the one giving something. Turns out Margaret's the one who made my Wednesdays better.

PROGRAM 03

Caregiver Support

We pay our caregivers. Then we try to make their lives a little easier.

Caring for someone you love is one of the hardest things a person can do. The fatigue, the emotional weight, the constant attention, payment alone doesn’t cover what caregivers actually go through.

So every caregiver enrolled with us gets access to a handful of things that go beyond the paycheck. Some of it’s small, some of it’s bigger. All of it’s our way of saying we see how hard you’re working.

What our caregivers get from us

  1. Support groups

Small gatherings where caregivers can talk openly with people who get it. The emotional side of this job is real, and it helps to share it with someone.

  2. $50 quarterly wellness stipend

Every three months, $50 toward something restorative. A massage, a manicure, a nice dinner out. You decide what counts as taking care of yourself.

  3. Holiday and birthday gifts

Something thoughtful on your birthday and a holiday gift box in December. Small gestures, but they're our way of saying we're paying attention.

  4. Weekly check-in calls

An optional weekly call from someone on our team. Not about paperwork, just "how are you holding up this week?"

  5. Respite support

When you need a break, we help you figure out coverage so you can take a day or a weekend without the guilt.

  6. Caregiver resources

A growing library of guides and short videos on burnout, managing tough days, and talking to doctors, written for caregivers, not bureaucrats.

“Caregivers are the ones doing the hard work. We’re giving them the support they need to do it.”
